Let's Talk About What Happened With All Those New Year's ResolutionsOkay, those intentions for all the changes you had planned out for the New Year might have proven to still be a challenging task. Let's just name it. Aren’t people to be envied who do not feel angst about the unknown change? Who have those lightning bolt change moments, those sparks of inspiration, where they can adopt this new habit or quit an old one, sometimes even with little effort or resistance? What an experience 🙋⚡ But then there might be those ones, just like me, who often feel like this: Sometimes the harder you try, the worse the situation gets. If you have those ⚡ experiences, yay 🎉🎉 to you, and if you have those latter experiences, yay 🎉🎉to you, too! Those latter experiences, though, make it quite important to deepen your understanding, otherwise it’s easy to stay stuck. It’s a lesson in Life Cultivation that demonstrates our lack of clear understanding, when we are trying to change something. This topic in Life Cultivation is very complex because it involves looking at the whole universe and how everything works in the universe. If you hit this WALL, it’s a great sign pointing you to deepen your understanding of the 'laws of life'. So let’s bring the conversation back around to the fear of unknown change. Everything we do, every choice initiates change. You surprised? Often we think we are not changing much, or at all, when we are changing all the time. In every moment. Nothing stays the same. But how come, it feels like changing is so difficult. It’s quite strange, isn't it? Change is happening all the time but this change can change in different directions. The law of Yin and Yang or Opposition and Unification says, whenever one thing goes in one direction there is the same strength of energy going the other direction. It happens at the same time. Whenever we gain something, we lose something in the same amount. Both go side by side. How is this related to change? Or rather to the fear of the unknown change? In every decision you make, you’ll find the law of gain and loss. It’s present in everything, and… We make decisions to AVOID LOSS. We don’t want fear. We don’t want loss. Once our patterns process information and perceive it as 'negative' we FEEL the 'negative' and we get disturbed. We need the willingness to want to learn about the 'laws of life' to identify and understand the problems that are currently plaguing our life, and to deal with them on a fundamental level. This is not an easy thing to achieve, because we are quite attached to what we already have. The pattern of Negativity MAGNIFIES WHAT WE DON’T WANT. "I don’t want to lose what I already have." The fear of loss makes us overly focused on one’s own loss and gain. We become obsessed with the loss and gain and it will dictate how we feel: >> When we gain, we feel happy for some time >> When we lose, we feel a great deal of sorrow >> When we want something so much, we are afraid of not getting it >> When we get it, we are afraid of losing it >> When we lose, we are obsessed with reversing our loss Seeking gain and avoiding loss brings a lot of uncertainty and insecurity to life. At some point, we might even feel like we have truly lost everything! When we want to leave an old place, we have to make space. We need to make room for the new to take place. But if the room is already full, if everything is occupied, there is no space for something new to take place. When you want to gain something new, you have to lose something of the old. That means gaining something unknown and losing something known. You see the problem here? It is rare to subtract off your life and inflict the 'suffering' of loss on yourself deliberately. If you do, you will inevitably touch the fear of losing what you already have. You’ll touch the fear of losing the known, AND the fear of the unknown change. If you touch fear, what do you think the pattern of Negativity will do with it? That’s it for this week's exploration of the fear of the unknown change. Lot’s of unlikeable and unwanted stuff today. This letter was probably pretty uninspiring, to say the least…but maybe it wasn’t. I hope you don’t negate what you are searching for. ~ M Mirjam Blank |
